How do lawyers and accountants select the right blog topics?

Updated: Mar 8

When we’re working with lawyers and accountants one of the most frequent pushbacks we get when the conversation gets round to blogs and articles is they find it hard to pick the right subjects.

If that sounds familiar here’s a quick questionnaire that should help you find your muse -

  • What do you know a lot about?

  • Which particular parts of that do you care about?

  • Which parts of that will your readers (including the readers you want as much as the readers you have) care about?

  • Which of the ideas on your shortlist is every other firm writing about?

  • What in the media, news and sport could you piggy-back on to make a point relating to your practice?

And once you have your topic, set the law or accounting regs to one side. Have an opinion! You want to showcase the fact you can advise on the areas you’re writing about and that you are confident with the advice you give. If people are going to instruct you, they need to see you know how to apply the technical principle, not just regurgitate them.

If you’d like to chat about how you take your blog forward, please email us today and we can arrange your first free consultation meeting.
